The Glock CHP unit is a solution providing electricity and heat to off-grid communities and businesses.

GLOCK Ecotech CHP Units for off-grid operations

Biomass Combined Heat and Power (18–50 kWe)

As energy costs rise and climate commitments become more urgent, many institutions, industries, and communities are looking for practical alternatives to fossil fuels. Bioenergy offers a proven solution: transforming locally sourced biomass such as woodchips and wood pellets into clean, efficient heat and power.

The GLOCK CHP 18 and GLOCK CHP 50 from GLOCK Ecotech are advanced biomass combined heat and power (CHP) systems designed to generate renewable electricity and heat from locally sourced wood chips and pellets.

Using innovative wood gasification technology, these compact CHP units convert biomass into clean electricity and useful heat simultaneously, enabling highly efficient decentralized energy production for off-grid commercial, agricultural, and industrial applications.

With overall efficiencies reaching up to 90–96%, GLOCK CHP systems maximize the energy value of biomass while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Key Benefits

  • Fully automated operation with advanced control technology
  • Reliable year‑round operation (up to ~8,000 hours annually)
  • Uses locally sourced renewable wood chips or pellets
  • Scalable systems – multiple units can be installed in cascade

How the Technology Works

GLOCK CHP units use wood gasification to convert wood chips or pellets into a combustible gas. This gas fuels a high‑efficiency internal combustion engine connected to a generator that produces electricity.

At the same time, the system captures waste heat from the gasification reactor, the engine and exhaust gases to provide useful thermal energy for heating systems or industrial processes.

This process allows facilities to produce renewable electricity and heat from a single fuel source, dramatically improving overall energy efficiency compared with conventional power generation.

Off‑Grid and Specialized Applications

GLOCK CHP units are ideal for off-grid, remote, or ecological facilities where independent and reliable energy production is essential. Key applications include:

  • Remote communities and off-grid villages – providing electricity and heat where grid connection is unavailable or unreliable.
  • Industrial operations in remote locations – such as forestry camps, mining sites, and processing facilities.
  • Agricultural operations far from utilities – e.g., remote greenhouses or barns.
  • Specialized off-grid research stations or eco-tourism resorts – combining sustainability with energy independence.
  • Decentralized microgrids – small-scale energy networks using local biomass resources.

These applications leverage the high efficiency and combined heat & power capabilities of GLOCK CHP units while offsetting high capital costs with operational independence and renewable energy value.
